Video Documentary
We are Jackie Wang, Cindy Li, and Kotu Bajaj; three radical students of color from New College of Florida who are working on a project about anarchism and race with a focus on the interplay of sexuality, race, and gender. For our project, we will be interviewing anarchist people of color for a documentary. We received a small grant to make our film, and will work on it during January, 2008. Our endeavor is non-for-profit.
We are currently working on conducting interviews with people about their views on how anarchism relates or race, sexuality, and/or gender. We are interested in investigating how anarchism’s critique of hierarchy, authority, power, and domination can be used to understand multiple systems of oppression. In addition, we are exploring strategies for undermining relationships of domination as well as interrogating the nature and limitations of identity politics. We aim to produce a documentary video and possibly an essay or other print work.
We will be in New York and the surrounding area from Dec 13-23 and will be traveling to various cities on the east coast in mid-January.
