Anti-Colonial Canada Day Mixtape
Belated post, tight music…
Download the July 1st edition of CKUT’s The Montreal Sessions, with a wonderful anti-colonial Canaduh day mix!
Aaron Maiden laid down a nice mix of anti-colonial themed music in anti-celebration of Canada Day. Local artist 23 joined us in the studio for an interview, and to drop some of his spoken word piece live. 23 recently recorded an album with Abdelkader “kader” Belaouni, an Algerian refugee in sanctuary at St-Gabriel’s church in Montreal. 23 spoke about his influences, his project with Kader, and the injustices around him which drive him to create the music and poetry he performs.
