Asia Pacific Forum Seeks Producer
Asia Pacific Forum (APF) is the progressive pan-Asian radio show broadcast every Tuesday night from 8 – 9 p.m. on WBAI 99.5 FM in New York City. We cover underreported stories from Asia, as well as Asian American politics and culture. Our guests have included Arundhati Roy, Gary Locke, Jessica Hagedorn, Tariq Ali, Yuri Kochiyama, David Henry Hwang, Luis Francia, Vijay Prashad, Cathi Tactaquin, Zia Mian, Phil Tajitsu Nash, Bharavi Desai, Robin D.G. Kelley, Hyun Lee, Joo-Hyun Kang, John Liu, Stacey Ann Chin, DJ Rekha, Maxine Hong Kingston, and Asian Dub Foundation.
The APF Collective is seeking another member-producer with journalism and/or activism experience to research and produce our weekly live radio program. At least once a month, each producer hosts leading activists, scholars, artists, playwrights, musicians, and others driving social and economic justice movements. Skills in audio and digital recording and editing a plus but not required.
Co-Producer Requirements:
Being an APF producer is a volunteer position that requires a minimum of 10 hours a month on average (including attendance at monthly Collective meetings). APF co-producers collectively coordinate program line-ups, program publicity, our website, and quarterly WBAI station fundraisers. APF also contributes to occasional national Pacifica broadcasts covering elections, major protests or other national or international events. For an archive of past shows, please visit the APF website at www.asiapacificforum.org.
How to Apply:
Interested candidates should send us a resume and a short letter that outlines your interests in Asian/Asian American/social justice issues, offers a critique of an APF segment, and suggests a story you’d like to see APF cover and how you think the story should be covered. Send applications or any questions toinfo@asiapacificforum.org. The deadline for applications is Friday, August 8, 2008.
