Electronic Village, A Slant Truth, From My Brown-Eyed View, AfroSpear and other blogs are posting today as a Day of Blogging for Justice: Community Organizers in speaking out in support of organizers, which Republican Vice Presidential candidate Sarah Pallin recently slammed during her acceptance speech.
The illvox collective is jumping into this issue in support of those on the streets who put in work to support our communities, make the sincere efforts for change and don’t need politicians to show up and take credit for the community’s self-determination. Whether Obama or McCain get elected, regular people are still going to be working for justice, because no one’s election ever changes the fundamental issues of power, passivity, privilege and capital. Just so happens that Sarah Pallin and her pals stand with the Klan and elites, so all the more reason to speak up and speak out.
The late anarchist writer and organizer Praxedis G. Guerrero wrote, “a cause does not succeed because of its kindness and its justice; it succeeds because of the efforts of its supporters.” Words well worth considering.
