A media arm of NW APOC called Colored People’s Resistance (CPR) was recently created, and is producing its first publication with a theme focused on ThanksTAKING. This call goes out to anarchist/anti-authoritarian people of color who want to have your essay, news report, poetry, photography, cartoon, artwork or any other form that you may create to address the tragic impact of what the national Thanksgiving holiday signifies to many people of color included in our first issue.

Some themes to consider are:
*True history of Thanksgiving and impact on people of color re: genocide
*The invention of Thanksgiving as a national day of giving thanks and people of color
*Assimilation and the loss of cultural identity of people of color
*White appropriation of Indigenous culture and spirituality
*The struggle for sacred sites and land appropriation
*Colonialism/neo-colonialism and it’s impact on people of color
*Black culture and “celebrating” a commemoration of cultural enslavement
*Anti-Thanksgiving activism and the creation of new commemorations by people of color for people of color

DEADLINE is November 22.

Written pieces should be no longer than 500 words. Include any accompanying images as attachments. Also please feel free in sending in any APOC related notices re: APOC links, actions, fund raisers or other calendar items.
